But I’ve also worn them hiking high snowy peaks, driving through bright whiteout days, and running trails. The Bajio Vegas deliver epic visibility and sun-blocking thanks to their proprietary lenses. They’re also comfortable whether you’re adventuring or playing, and built to withstand both.

Bajio’s Vega sunglasses use their Polarized, color-enhancing, high definition lenses to give you perfect vision even when the light shifts from bright to low and blurry. They also have a proprietary blue-light-blocking LAPIS technology, to protect your eyes from computer screens and even some UV light. You can get the Vegas made of polycarbonate or glass; I like the polycarbonates because they’re lighter and super strong. Supposedly they tend to scratch easier than glass, though none of my Bajio sunglasses have ever scratched.

How Durable are the Bajio Vega Sunglasses?

These Vegas are rugged. Yes, the glass lenses are more scratch-resistant but even the polycarbonates have a special coating to protect them from scratching, water damage, and more. The bio-based nylon frames are rugged, all-but indestructible it feels like. I’ve shoved my Bajio Vegas into jackets, luggage bags, and backpacks from plane to train to mountaintop and they still look just like new. These Bajio Vega sunglasses are one of my most durable pieces of eyewear.

The frames on the Bajio Vega sunglasses are wide. Your view of the world are unlimited with these bus windshields giving nearly untrammeled range of vision. While they look square and stylish, the Vegas have an 8-base shape meaning they wrap around your head. This not only helps deliver top-level protection and wide vision, it also ensures the Bajio Vegas will hold onto your head almost like a pair of goggles.

The frames are also helped out by the rubber temple tips to keep them from slipping off your ears. These sunglasses also have proprietary non-slip rubber nose pads so they won’t slip off, well, your nose, such as when bending over to dig through your gear bag. Yet with all that grip, Bajio’s Vegas never feel pinchy or stuck on like some other active-wear sunglasses. Bomber frames that don’t come off unless you want them to? Yeah, that sounds pretty perfect.

To start off, Bajio named their Vega sunglasses after a legendary Yucatan angler, Alejandro Vega Cruz. He’s more casually known as Sandflea. Bajio is a brand that really values heritage with its eye on the future. Bajio’s Vega’s frames are made of a bio-blend synthetic nylon, a cutting-edge material made from a more eco-friendly fermentation process. Al Perkinson, Bajio’s CEO, was part of the team that founded the company based on a vision of a better future. They wanted to make sunglasses that could survive epic adventures to far-flung spaces. Their love of fishing fueled the company. They also wanted to minimize their impact on the environment and to foster a culture where they give back to their community and to their world. Bajio may be a newer kid on the sunglass block but they’re steeped in good ambitions and tied to a long heritage.

Overall Impression

Bajio is a company that believes in fine craftsmanship with a conscience. Bajio’s Vega sunglasses are nearly-indestructible eye shields that deliver next-level technology in a drippy, stylish wrapping. Yes, they were made with an eye to fishing. But really the Bajio Vegas are perfect sun-blockers for everything your wild, adventurous life can throw at them.
